In early 2020, the rollout of Frank’s PReP+ project was halted due to COVID-19 and the death of his brother, Ryan Breaux. Frank remained largely silent about new music until headlining Coachella 2023, where he was later seen traveling with cameras and music equipment across different countries, seemingly filming a documentary. On December 17, 2022, he released Blonde vinyls and accompanying posters. When placed together, the posters revealed the message: “The Recording Artist has since changed his mind about the singles model, and is again interested in more durational bodies of work,” distancing his new direction from the singles released in 2019–2020. Recording sessions are known to have taken place in Miami, Amsterdam, and Austin, with more likely conducted elsewhere.
